Dargaville Hospital

Dargaville Hospital has been providing health services to the Kaipara district since 1956. The hospital is a vital part of the community and locals have fought in the past to keep it open. Without it, Kaipara residents would have to make the long trip to Whangarei for hospital treatment.

Dargaville Hospital is jointly owned by Northland DHB (54%) and the Kaipara Community Health Trust (46%).

The hospital has a 12 bed general ward and a four bed maternity ward with all the supporting services and also provides a substantial community health service.

Hospital services include:

  • 12 bed general ward
  • 4 bed maternity ward supported by on-site laboratory, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy services
  • Radiology services provided by a private provider
  • Visiting consultants from Whangarei Hospital provide specialty medical and surgical services
  • Dargaville Medical Centre provides 24 hour emergency cover

The most recent purchase from funds raised through Health Fund PLUS was four New Zealand made Romeo recliner chairs for patients and their families to use while staying at Dargaville Hospital. Click here to read the full story.
