Hearing Association Fund

Alice O’Keeffe believed that less fortunate people from her town, Whangarei, should have access to hearing aids. Therefore, before she died she made sure of this with a gift in her Will to this particular cause. With the assistance of the Northland Community Foundation O’Keeffe’s dreams can become a reality her funds will be invested forever and the interest delivered out annually. Creating a legacy for Alice and will support Whangarei residents with hearing aids/ hearing assistive technology, forever.
Approximately $400,000 has been gifted to the Northland Community Foundation from the Whangarei Hearing Association and Alice O’Keeffe Bequest.
The Funds will be invested for perpetuity and the interest earned from the invested funds will be distributed annually to Deaf Aotearoa – Whangarei Branch to identify Whangarei residents in need. The planned date for distribution will be October/ November 2020.
Based on the current predicted gross average annual investment return of 5.4% in 30 years the original fund could grow to over $719,116, after annual gifts back to the community! What a fantastic gift, thank you Alice O’Keeffe and Whangarei Hearing Association.
