Bay of Islands Hospital

The Bay of Islands Hospital is located in Kawakawa and provides care to the people of the Bay of Islands and the Mid North.

A new building, expanding and improving the original hospital, was opened on 28th September.  The new building provides an accident and medical department, radiology and a 20-bed medical ward.

A recent project made possible by this fund was the purchase of eight recliner chairs for the hospital, thanks to generous donations from the following individuals and groups:

Taumarere Opua WI

Paihia Ex Servicemen

Ian and Tania Walters

Rotary clubs of Kaikohe, Kerikeri, Waipapa, and Bay of Islands

Kaikohe Garden Club

Kawakawa Lions Club

Made in Kaiwaka, the Romeo Recliners feature premium lumbar support and the correct seat height and depth to provide the ultimate in comfort to our families.

“Whānau who are caring for their loved one often stay overnight or spend quite a lot of time at the bedside,” offered Jen Thomas, operations manager, Bay of Islands Hospital.

“Being given the opportunity to provide whānau with a comfortable chair is a godsend and we are extremely grateful to the organisations and individuals that have helped make this happen.”
